F.A.Q
“The physical, mental, emotional and spiritual journeys for people are all different. If I can help one person vibrate at a higher frequency through vitality; every person’s path they cross will also be affected in a positive way because that person will have a better sense of health, love and gratitude and that state is contagious” – Dr. Debrah Zepf
All Essential Oils are Ingestible
False – according to GRAS list: Bergamot, Cinnamon Bark, Citronella, Clary Sage Geranium, Ginger, Juniper Berry, Lavender, Lemon, Lemongrass,, Lime, Marjoram, Peppermint, Pink Grapefruit, Rosemary, Sage, Sweet Basic, Sweet Fennel, Sweet Orange, Clear Mind.
All Essential Oils cross the blood brain barrier
False – Only Sequisterpenes – meaning very small fat-soluble oil. Not all oils have the same size molecule.
There is no such thing as “Therapeutic Grade” Essential Oil
False – There are many therapeutic grade standards. The problem is which one do you trust? All of these standards are for INTERNAL usage and developed by companies selling oils and may or may not include quality control by a third party lab. Judgments about essential oils quality take more than good chemists and good equipment. It requires many years experience in odor evaluation and knowing what specific MINOR components are desirable in oil and not just focusing on the major components.
Pure, unadulterated essential oils with no synthetics added last forever
False – It is true that these oils will last longer than most, HOWEVER, all oils will eventually go bad due to oxidation reactions that are unavoidable UNLESS you could somehow store them in an oxygen free atmosphere.
- Most oils do degrade with age due to oxidation BUT there are some oils such as sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli that actually get better with age.
- It’s typically the heavier oils that are high in sesquiterpene alcohols that get better with age…
- CITRUS oils best to finish within a year – because of their components oxidize quicker
- QUESTION IS “WHY WOULD YOU NOT USE THE OIL IF IT’S THAT GREAT?
Essential oils were used in Biblical times
False – During that era, aromatic products would have been of a crude solvent extracted nature by using fats and pressed oils and would not have been concentrated like today. – Goose fat, olive oils and concoctions.
If you develop a rash on your skin from using a pure essential oil, you are only detoxifying.
False – Let’s imagine you rub poison ivy on your skin… You Detoxifying? NOT…. You have sensitivity to it. A detox is when the body undergoes something when it has taken something away, not added. – ALWAYS DO A PATCH TEST…. Rules please…
The best quality of EO’s come from the “First Pressing”/”First Distillation” of plant material
False – All EO’s are only distilled once/ So yes, First distillation is correct AND they are never distilled a 2nd or 3rd. There is for example – MINT that is often taken for some further fractional vacuum redistilling to improve the quality by removing nauseating components of the whole oils. BUT NOBODY DISTILLES THE BIOMASS OF EO’S A SECOND TIME. The only one that goes through this is Ylang Ylang which is why there are different grades of extract I, II, III and COMPLETE.
You can add E.O directly to your DRINKING and/or bath waters.
False – mucus membranes are sensitive and should never have undiluted EO on or near them.
Everyone can use essential oils the same way, including pregnant, young children and the elderly?
False – see safety rules
All Lavender is the same
False – Too many companies create a blend with lavandin, cheaper lavender etc., and call it pure lavender. This is why they smell different. The best lavender is lavendula angustifolia from France or Bulgaria not USA. It has to be grown at high altitudes for the healing properties to occur
All Essential oils are equal in purity.
False
